Turf
Management
We apply lawn applications that will keep your lawn healthy, weed free and green. Our goal is to give you the best lawn possible without over fertilizing or applying applications that may not be needed.
Maintaining healthy grass areas effectively.
Firehouse Lawncare's turf management service involves fertilization, irrigation, pest control, weed control, disease management, aerating, and seeding. These tactics are used to promote the growth, health, and appearance of turf grass. This also creates safe and functional outdoor spaces for you and your family.
Effective turf management requires expertise of plant biology, soil science, entomology, and horticulture, as well as an understanding of the specific needs and challenges of your particular turf-grass species and environment.
This is how we do it.
Regular maintenance
We fertilize, water, and control pests to keep turf-grass healthy and looking its best.
Soil analysis
We conduct soil tests to determine the nutrient content, pH levels, and other characteristics of the soil. We then use this information to build a personalized maintenance plan and fertilization program to meet the specific needs of your turf.
sustainability
We are focused on sustainability and environmental responsibility. Firehouse uses practices such as water conservation and reduced pesticide use.
disease Management
We monitor for and treat turf-grass diseases, which can cause discoloration, thinning, and other damage to the grass.
Customized Plans
Firehouse develops customized plans for each site based on factors such as climate, soil type, and intended use to ensure the best possible results for the specific site and its needs.
Customized seasonal solutions.
As soon as the weather breaks we are out the door applying our first application of crabgrass preventer & fertilizer. All of our fertilizers are granular due to the advantages over liquid fertilizers.
We start applying weed control as soon as the ground temperatures are warm enough for the herbicides to work correctly. We use a product that is low odor and kills even the hardest to kill weeds such as violets, ground ivy, and many others.
June is the correct time to apply systemic grub control lawns. This will give season-long control for sub and surface feeding insects. Our products will also prevent army worm damage as well as many other surface feeders. Nutsedge is a problem for almost every lawn in the Midwest. We are aggressively spraying this all summer.
This is a the best time to get your lawn ready for aerating and over seeding. We spray any weeds and are applying fertilizer at this time. If you choose not to do any seeding, then a slow-release fertilizer is applied. This application is very important, as 75% of your lawn's fertilizer needs to be applied in the Fall.
This is the best time to aerate and seed your lawn. See our aeration page for more info. Fall is also the best time to spray weeds that are germinating. Many weeds such as clover are best killed in the fall. Dandelions, chickweed and other weeds are also starting to grow and can be eliminated before spring.
Our winterizer fertilization is timed to provide the benefits to your lawn. The turf needs to be slowing down and getting ready to go into winter for this application. We generally do not do this application before Thanksgiving as a rule of thumb.
